D.Love, could you share your stance on ASU maintaining the title of "Historical Black College"? This is a community of diverseness, and this college represents Albany (and SW GA). Should this college keep referring to itself by this racially specific title? Inquiring minds want to know where you stand.

How can we expect our children to adjust if every year there are changes in administration and faculty?

So much bloviating and so little substance in this article. How would you expect a child to learn and to be educated if the past administration were allowed to continue their self-serving agendas? In farming, the weeds need to be pulled to keep from choking the life from the crops, and to allow the crops to grow. In our government and school system, changes are sometimes needed to bring in fresh ideas and to rid the system of corrupt and ineffective behaviour. The new School Board and interim superintendent should be congratulated for taking the long awaited actions to prepare the school system for an improved learning environment!!! Continue to get rid of the weeds who are negatively affecting the students ability to learn.

Good analogy Amazed2. The City Commissioners continue to wear very dark sun glasses because they fail to see Taylor's "blinding flash of the obvious".

As was said by Ramsis, Yul Brenner's character, "So let it be written, so let it be done!" Let's see if the City Commissioners pay attention to Taylor's recommendations this time.

Bubba... why do you suppose there is more crime in Albany? Also, read my response to your earlier comment above so that you understand the foolishness of your demands for checks.

Deme.... no, not all at ASU are corrupt. However there are many with a racist attitude summarily expressed by E. Freeman as "now it is our time". A prime example was the student lead protest in support of Trayvon Martin. Facts were not known about what really happened. Until this culture is confronted and changed, then there will be a suspicious cloud over the heads of those coming out of this environment.

As an example of not all inclusive at ASU, Bynum is indeed an asset for the university. However, as long as there are those with the shallow view point of keeping the racist title "Historical Black College", this university, and this community, will never come together to truly achieve positive results. There is NO justification for keeping this title. NONE! There used to be "white only" water fountains, rest rooms, and other racist designated locations. These have changed and rightfully so. Do you get the point? THINK about it.

Bubba... there is nothing negative about being factual. I guess you can't stand the truth. Encouraging others to just write a check without knowing if the program is lawful to be funded by tax payer dollars, or what would happen if only 90 kids show up instead of 500, is not only irresponsible behaviour, but also sets a precedent for bad policy/decisions. THINK about it!

Yet another fine example of playing the race card from one of the "dumb masses". When shallow thinkers like you stop blaming whites for the cultural issues that keep many in poverty, then and only then, will you experience positive trends for learning. The only racism I see here in Albany has been from those you want to see be united (prime example: City Commissioner Tommy Postell).

It is embarrassing to see these kids with the low-riding pants in our community. It is an indicator of self-centeredness, low self-esteem, ignorance, and a lack of pride in the way the person looks.

Amazed2, your comments were short, factual, and to the point. Good job. As I stated in another response, just how many good programs need to be funded by tax payers before you draw the line and say NO MORE? If the other programs are not getting the desired results for lowering crime and educating our youth, then stop funding them! THINK about it.
