The Squawkbox can be very petty and negative but is also very popular with a lot of readers. It is anonymous, so why can't comments remain the same? Try making people give their names on Squawks and see how long you can stay in business. I was a Herald carrier for 25 years. My customers LOVED the squawks.
Yep, they know who everyone one of us is anyway. But we don't necessarily know how many fake names Herald employees are using on here. LOL
My name is Betty Rehberg. My family knows a thing or two about retaliation (Phoebe). I think I may give up commenting just as a protest, lol. Adios
LOL, you must work for the Herald. No sheet here. My name is Betty Rehberg. This is a bad move by the Herald.
Yes, it was a bad move for WALB, will be a bad move here as well.
I would think much fewer hits. Comments are feedback that shows how good or bad a job the paper is doing. Sometimes being anonymous is the only way to get something that needs to see the light of day "out there". We would never have heard about Watergate without "Deep Throat." Name calling and obscenities can always be deleted. You (and WALB too) could be losing needed information by forcing people to use their real names through Facebook. Not that they cannot/will not set up fake Facebook accounts to continue on as before. So what have you really accomplished but to keep people that do not use Facebook from giving you any feedback? Not a good move, and rather lazy too.
True about the fake Facebook accounts. Oodles of them around. What did Erudite say/do? I must have missed it.
LOL, I was wondering when he would pipe up and say something.
Just like WALB did. Here is the thing, not everyone has or wants a Facebook account. I suspect you will see less comments. Perhaps that is the point. It is not the anonymity issue with me, I don't care if you know my name or not. Most on here already know Betty Bow Tie is Betty Rehberg.
