A fan sitting next to me had this to say "Kooi wasn't good enough to start in Div I so that tells me he isn't that great a quarterback", maybe not for div I but he had enough promise to QB in div I albeit as a backup and in my opinion had a big enough arm to be Albanys starter. The problem with being a pocket passer for ASU is the offensive line doesn't give the qb time to setup and look for open recievers down field. That's where quality and innovative coaching comes in to play. ASU needs to look outside of former players to coach and look for some football minds that can recruit and use the talent they put on the field. The coaching staff lost at least one game early in the season when they didn't replace the kicker soon enough and lost a game by going for short yardage when a field goal could've given them a win. How many Linemen did we start the season with? Someone needs to ask the tough questions. And coach white's comment that he was blind sided by the loss, 'come on man"! If you would turn and watch the game as it is being played you would have saw this coming a long time ago.
A great turnout for both schools but, a venue with more parking would be great. I spent most of the first half searching for a parking space in the hope that 1) I didn't get towed and 2) my vehicle wouldn't get broken into. After finally paying to park in a field behind a store I walked about 4 blocks and got in the game with about 6 minutes before the half, by then we were already behind 26-3. It only got worse and many started home during the 3rd quarter when Fort Valley scored again. There were some interesting tid bits shared by a gentleman familiar with the Golden Ram program concerning the coaching staff that I may or may not share on here. To the Ram rooter I spoke to in Augusta a week ago, I hate to say "I told you so" but.... Someone needs to start recruiting potential players now, and looking for a few good coaches
Albany lost the game, Lost the battle of both the offensive and defensive line of scrimmage and lost their collective hearts after being out coached and out played. The question has to be asked, will coach White be the head coach next year? Will there be any coaching changes at all? Many of the Golden Ram faithful are murming and rightfully so. Who can we voice our concerns to? Please someone tell me who to address my concerns to so that I can do so privately I don't want to bash the coaches publicly but someone has to stop the bleeding.
A win is a win but I am sorry fellows I was not impressed by this win. The Golden Rams struggled against a team who had one win coming in. Fort Valley will send them home forth right because of the offense's inability to block for the QB. Our offense is easy to figure out because Grissett is the runner and Kooi the passer, you defend the QB in the game with a defense based on that. Grissett's TD (a floater) could have easily been an INT his reciever was bigger and took the ball from the defender. Kooi wasn't given time to look down field and lost at least one fumble when hit while scrambling and was rushed before being taken out. In the words of coach Dennis Green "we are not who we thought we were".
Good luck, My family and I will be there to cheer you on then, on to Columbus to meet with FVSU.
Why don't you tell us how you really feel Lol.. I do agree that 96 is played darn near to death, A couple weeks ago I asked if he didn't have a backup. The guy may have heart but he can't play every defensive down as they seem to want him to. ASU quite frankly has coaching issues but I don't like a losing opponent to bring it out.
I find it hard to fathom a losing coach saying what Clark Atlanta coach Daryl McNeill said after the game “They didn’t beat us, we beat ourselves, They weren’t a better team than us (Saturday). (Albany State) isn’t that good of a football team. We have 42 players and 22 scholarships — you do the math. We out-coach anybody in this conference. We just don’t have the numbers to compete.” Wow talk about a sore loser and the complete lack of sportsmanship, he not only takes a swipe at our players but the coaching staff as well. To be second to last in the nation in scoring says a lot about their coaching. Just take your ball and go home coach. By the way if you don't have the numbers to compete you should consider dropping football, DUH!
This guy is an exciting back to watch
Please provide some instances where ASU recieved negative press from the Herald. I am a Fort Valley Alumn but have a relative who attends the school so I read the paper online almost everyday. I haven't seen the negative press that you say ASU recieves. I am a football fanatic and have commented many times on this years team.
The QB, #22, #96 and Hoyte were mentioned in my comments because in my opinion these men are leaders and outstanding ball players. I in no way am calling them out., likewise our cheerleaders did nothing wrong although they were baited to do so from a far less talented group of ladies from the ATL although you handled the situation well tensions rose. You all made those of us who made the trip proud. One Morehouse supporter said " this is by far the best band that I have seen all year". He was at Tuskeegee last week.
