I agree Carlton......we are gonna survive no matter who we elect.....if we make it past this December 21, 2012 ....and the Myan's doomsday prediction.....huh? I hope the frenzy is as much fun as the YK2 was...haha!

Wasn't there a cartoon character in the old MAD Magazine that always said "WHAT, ME WORRY?" I think there was.....that will be me.

I don't think I have posted anything as bad as what he posted, and yes, at my age I guess I am an old "fart" as you say. I hate rap music, dislike soul music, don't like to watch videos with black artists in them because I don't like the music and don't understand the words, don't like to watch black action movies because everything is MF this and MF that...so I suppose that makes me a racist, huh? I don't like a lot of rock music, hate metal, and despise white guy action movies (especially anything with Cruise, Stallone, etc) because after having been with the State Department for over 40 years and having been assigned to some god awful places overseas, that they make look so romantic and lovely in movies, they make me laugh. So does that make me a racist against whites too? I think it is called freedom of expression, but yeah go ahead and call it racism if you like because whether or not we want to admit it, we are all a bit racist.

Well I am registered to vote in Virginia and have brought my absentee ballot with me on my trip down here but have not made a decision yet on how to mark it. It is very hard to decide. I have voted by absentee ballot for nearly all my adult life and cannot remember a decision as hard as this one in a long time. Yes, cfcarroll64, I do hope the right person gets elected but how soon after the election will we know we made the right choice and how will we know?

Very well stated, neiliz. I want to thank you for your very clear and concise statement of fact. I had an idea he was a sniveling brat who was the type of schoolyard bully who said "well boo hoo, if you won't do things my way then I will just take my toys and go home"......(I guess I got that idea from his "poses" on his personal pictures on his Facebook page, his pictures of his "things" (his ride (?) and statements he made.) As far as your last sentence goes, "if they aren't embarrassed they must be just like him" is a very sad commentary, in my opinion. Doesn't say much for the Downtown Association.

Good one billybob! The dictionary can be his friend. Someone should introduce him to Mr. Webster.

You are doing much better.....now maybe on the next go round it will be perfect. We are waiting. Remember, the comma can be your friend.

Mr. Sevier, it appears you were either quite upset when you wrote the post or is your grammar so bad? Is this a reflection on your education? If it is, then you should be ashamed to submit it to the Herald. I suggest you either correct it and come back and give reason why it is so badly written or stop altogether and quit making a bigger fool of yourself than you just have.

Coachjohnson, before you start to boast, why don't you read a REAL synopsis by REAL professionals on last night's debate? This is about 7 hours old and will be updated thru the day. It is bipartisan and will give you a very clear picture of what was actually said at the debate and is written in simple English and will be very easy for you and others to understand. Please stay away from Fox News. They are so partisan it is pathetic. At least at factcheck.org you are getting the whole debate, and as I say, it is bipartisan, and everyone can understand it, I hope.

Interesting piece, Mr. Fletcher. I always like to follow up with some investigating of my own when I read a piece like this (probably a holdover from the type work I did - 40 years with the State Department all over the world). I must say this past year I did enjoy reading some of your pieces when I had a chance but times were few and far between. Anyway, back to the reason for my post. Mr. Sevier seems to be a lost and angry soul, and from posts I have read in the past about ASU (such entertaining writing), looking at his Facebook page and reading his (snickering here) Timeline I must say it is very clear he was product of ASU and crystal clear he was a SPEECH major. Now if you will excuse me I must go laugh. Oh and PS, if his comment about ethnic talent meant "black" music I must say not everyone has an ear for it. I would rather listen to someone's nails being scraped down a chalkboard.

Well said, Greedygutt. The most sensible thing anyone has said so far and I fully agree. You are certainly right, it is going to take a lot more than 4 years and a lot of promises that these two clowns make and know they can't fulfill in 4 years, not even 8, to get us back on track.
