Georgia Board of Regents proposes $19.8 million for new facility at Albany State University September 17, 2014
Ya'll leave Sister Ruby alone. She is not a racist person, she just likes having fun and I do too besides, naming a kid like parents have the last 10 years or so is a good thing. If they can spell their own name by the time they are in the 7th grade then they are already half way to gaining their degree at ASU! So parents.... make the names a little longer from now on and PLEASE keep using those AWESOME endings like arious.
Now Sister_Ruby! This is Albany Ga and the year 2012...there is no racial thing going on in this town and for SURE not in the city or county government. We are all the same color, brothers and sisters who at all times come to each others aid when things bring us down. I'm surprised at you! It's the year 2012 for goodness sakes.
@alleebrin, it seems like there are a lot of government employees that have that mentality. City, state and federal they are pretty much the same in many cases. Of course you will find one occasionally who earns their pay but it seems many do not do the task that their job description requires. Their job, (it seems), is to work as hard as they can to get out of doing thier real job and some are very good at it, almost like they have been sent to formal training to be taught exactly how to NOT do thier jobs when I agree alleebrin, it would actually take a lot less brain power and most of the time physical energy if they would just do their own jobs but.....NOOOOOOOO. it also is very common to see these same type people have a chip on their shoulder and get angry when someone pressures them about doing their job. I just don't understand that. If they hate working that much why don't they join the other 80% in this town go on welfare?
The BCS has never and will never give proper respect to teams in the SEC, except for Alabama, which never made sense to me but yet shows the true colors of the BSC. The ratings system is just as biased and messed up as the entire BCS is in general. That's how it is and will always be so we might as well just keep quiet and let it go.
PPMH, a profit, acting as a non-profit, PERIOD. Taxexempt nonprofit hospitals, by definition, have an obligation to the community to provide accessible and affordable health care. However, the very hospitals charged with caring for those most in need are increasingly turning their backs on, and in some cases taking advantage of, uninsured and indigent patients. I have heard complaints from many people who fall within the indigent patient area that receive harrasing phone calls from the billing office at PPMH threatening to have them turned over to collection agencies if they do not pay and when a complaint is reported all you ever hear back is that it must have been a computer glitch. It is not by chance that employees in the billing office are the lowest paid-least trained of all PPMH employees. I pay my bills, on time and I cannot tell you how often I am forced to go personally to the billing office to get something straightened out and am then told that it is fixed, they are sorry and the problem will not happen again only to hear again from them within a short time frame many times calling about that same exact miscommunication that was "supposed" to be taken care of, and to add insult to injury the billing staff has the nerve to talk down to me and show an attitude or make statements to the effect that I am lying and am a sorry person who does not pay my bills. I hate to think of the thousands of people who for whatever reason are not able to keep a close handle on thier payments because of age or a mental issue that go ahead and pay the same "computer generated" bill two or three times and they never know it. I have not once heard of PPMH contacting a person to say they made a payment by mistake and refunding the money. Placing the lowest paid, least trained personnel in these positions allows PPMH to give the excuse, in the EXTREME case they are actually caught trying to collect, that the employee made a mistake and they are completely off the hook. I'd bet the system that keeps up with the swiss accounts and funds that make payroll do not have glitches or accidently spit out "computer generated" paychecks that are 15% of what it should be for the staff in high positions.
I've lived here all my life. The city has made numerous attempts to draw people downtown. None have worked, not enough to provide enough regular business to keep each business afloat long term. There has to be a reason why people do not want to go downtown on a regular basis. One reason that I think would help would be to replace something that was taken away years ago....a walking beat cop. Police presence during the hours that these businesses are open would give people, especially women, peace of mind. My wife came close to getting robbed coming out of the downtown library in the middle of the day and if it was not for another concerned citizen who observed what was taking place and stepped in who knows what might have happened. After that incident she refuses to go back to any business downtown alone. Just one police person on foot patrol. How much of a problem would that be for APD to do? The police on bikes, the officers on horses during parades etc. We have the resources but unless it's a special event you're on your own in downtown Albany. Street walkers are all over especially the entrance to the library, the over hang entrance to the auditorium, many other places. Why does APD allow them to stay there? They arrest pan handlers and people who present themselves as homeless people on North Slappey, but you can beg all day 365 in downtown Albany and not be bothered by the law. Is it any wonder why the businesses suffer?
Cusseta right before you get on Ft Benning going west on 520 is worse than Warwick.
It's our family tradition to go eat at the oriental place because everything else is closed, besides, the turkey got ate by the neighbors dogs. Fa ra ra ra ra, ra ra ra... raaaaaa!
You were close about who the engineers were but they were from Alabama, not Auburn. God, I mean "The Bear" is ALWAYS #1 and first and that construction was designed as such. At least it has rail guarding....what is the deal with exit 6B getting off on Slappey going south? One spot of bacca juice in the road and you're flippin end over end right onto the onramp going towards the mall. Now THAT was pure Role Tide engineering right there bud!!
They didn't have to kill him. They could have just made sure he was right in the middle of the crowd at the Mouiltrie Wal-Mart when they opened this past black Friday. But that would be cruel. We should all be more like bollybob and become nonviolent athiest. Just let all thieves get away freely. It will prevent all these unintended consequences. Poor guy and his wife. This is really sad.
