Walt, I don't know what the NFPA standards are for goggles or eye protection, but the picture is a little misleading because of its perspective. When i shot that photo I was standing halfway in the road in front of the house. Capt. Anderson was walking about 10 feet or so in front of me or right on the edge of the road and the curb when snapped the frame. The home is set back probably 15-20 yards from where he was walking. So while it looks like he was close to the fire, he really wasn't. Not sure if this helps or not, but I thought I would attempt to provide a little clarity.
Have you noticed that the vast majority of violent crime in this city, and in most cities, is among people who know each other? I can't tell you the last time a random person was killed during an act of crime...Maybe Walter Phelps?
You're not going to have a city of 90,000 people without some level of crime. People just need to keep it in perspective. And you aren't going to have a city with our poverty and educational problems without things like gangs.
So, other than commenting about it on a website, what are we doing to fix it?

It's not a violation of the first amendment. At worst it may violate parts of the fourth amendment if warrants weren't taken.

One could make the argument that guns have been perfectly legal and yet no one with a gun managed to prevent either incident...

JUST FYI: Three murders in four months is hardly "someone getting shot or killed every week." Moultrie has had more killings that Albany.

Just an FYI, I think you're confusing Obamacare with the Debt Free America Act which was never voted on by Congress and was floated in 2004.
