LEESBURG— Lee County senior first baseman and pitcher Jacob Barwick signed a letter of intent Tuesday night to play college baseball at the University of Texas-Dallas. The ceremony took place at Lee County High School as part of the Trojan baseball banquet.

Barwick, the fourth of the Lee County seniors to sign college baseball scholarships, didn’t have the season he was hoping for because he missed a good portion of the season with injuries. He pitched 55 innings for the Trojans, striking out 31 batters. He had a crucial save against Greenbrier that sent the Trojans into the state Final Four.

At the plate, the left-handed Barwick was one of the biggest threats at the plate for the Trojans, usually batting in the middle of the line up. He batted .291 on the season with 15 RBIs and six doubles.
