Strictly regulating specifically the pit bull type dogs is an excellent idea. Once you get past all the temper tantrum the pit-owning TWO PERCENT of the dog-owning population throws, life improves greatly. Mauling, maiming, dismembering, and killing attacks by dogs drops to zero within a year or two. People stop losing their children, parents, grandmothers and limbs to pit bull type dog attacks. Gang crime drops radically. The shelter killing of pit bulls bred by the pit bull 'lovers', but then casually dumped, it stops. Dogfighting becomes impossible as an illegal activity.
It's good for all concerned, including for the pit bull type dogs themselves. Please, keep your resolve, bear the temper tantrum the overly entitled pit-narcissists throw at you, then sit back and see how happy the 99% of your voters are.
Right, typical pit bull owner response. Since it didn't happen to ME, it doesn't matter how many other people it happens to. Have you ever heard of Darla Napora? If not, google it. It might make you think a bit...
The things that work to prevent attacks by normal dogs don't work with pit bull type dogs. Standing still -- they grab you anyway. Roll up in a ball on the ground -- they scalp the child. It's time to stop pretending that pit bull type dogs are like real, normal dogs. The only effective way to prevent a pit bull attack is to never be within about 600 yards of a pit bull...or to shoot it as soon as it approaches, in particular if you have a child or a normal dog with you.
