MGYSGT, USMC~Ret I really don't care if a city worker uses a personel cell phone at work. What has me steamed is the CAR. Why does Albany provide a vehicle, gas, vehicle maintenance, insurance and who knows what else to over 250 city workers? I thounght the city budget was tight. We could also question the results of the investigation where 100,000 gallons of city auto-gas dissappeared.

MGySgt, USMC~Ret Please remember that MOST police officer are just people trying to get a job done. My Son is a police officer and he conducts about 75% of his POLICE business on his personel cell phone. The radio traffic is so heavy that if he waited for a clear channel his routine day would have to be twice as long to accomplish the same amount of work. Yes, he makes or answers a few non-business calls during the day, but far fewer than you might imagine.

Finally, a professional educator that has not drank from the liberal well of non-intelligence! During the Vietnam War [I was there twice] the US Army produced a statistic that it averaged 50,000 rounds for each and every enemy kill in battle. Obviously, the New York assembly feels that civilians in fear of their lives are going to be better shots than a trained US Army recruit. Violent crime, including murder has statistically dropped nearly 50% in the last twenty years, however, the number of firearms in the hands of civilians has increased by leaps and bounds. These simple facts are never mentioned by the anti-gun media, because it obviously points to the lie they are attempting to conceal. MGySgt, USMC~Ret

There is a very big difference in opinions between Police Chiefs, Police Administrators, and the rank and file street level police offfcer. Any active or retired street officer knows full well that the individual that totally relies on "police protection" is relinquishing his safety and the safety of his family to a MYTH. The police, in most case do the best job that they can, and respond in as timely mannor as possible, however that is not instantly by any means. The poice have no legal responsibility to protect any individual, simply the general good order of a community. In a home invasion, armed robbery, or criminal assault, SECONDS can easily mean the difference between survival and death.

MGYSGTUSMC 1 year, 6 months ago on The gun control debate will be with us for some time

Obama has a KING complex, not to be confused with Dr.Martin Luther King either. Executive orders are "limited" in power to CEO type instrutions to his staff in the Executive Branch. Why America allows this debate to focus on an inantimate object is beyond me. A true definition of an assualt weapon is the brick I just smacked you in the head with. Assualt is an action VERB, inantimate objects have no "will", no "conscience", and no "evil character''. Dangerious weapons are a myth, only dangerious minds. It is the individual that caused every mass murder since 1929, not the weapon of choise. Obama and his cronies in Washington are looking for CONTROL, not safety. They have taken a phrase that Mao frequently used: "Power comes from the barrel of a gun."; and they want all of the power.
