The Gang Unit and ADDU are obviously either under staffed or have nonexistent competent leadership. Since the Gang Unit was formed drive by shootings and murders have risen at an alarming rate. The ADDU seems to make one or two drug bust per month. We all know that drugs and gangs are very prevalent in Albany and they do not worry about The Gang Unit or ADDU. I consider Albany a dangerous place to visit or do business.
The Cooper Tire plant would have ben a good location for that Casino. You can bet if gambling is ever legalized in Georgia Albany will not have a Casino. It would make to much sense and it would bring money into the area and create jobs, that makes it a bad idea. Just push all of downtown into the river, it is sinking now.
I would like to get some of that consultant money everyone in local government likes to send to Atlanta. I have no training, track record, degree or experience but that seems to be Ok.
I am literate and speak perfect English with a nice southern accent. Just post in a squawk here where I go to pick up my check. Thanking you in advance.
So they increase patrols in those neighborhoods. Thugs will simply move to another one, remember they have cars. There is crime over the entire city and not enough police to be everywhere all the time. I have no solution other than advising people to move away if they can. Really sad, I have lived in Albany and the area for 55 years and have seen it slowly degenerate into a crime ridden unsafe place to live and do business. My 2 cent.
"An order issued Thursday states that the FTC had stayed administrative proceedings in the case pending the appellate resolution of a collateral federal court action. Following the U.S. Supreme Court ruling in favor of the agency, the commission was moved to lift the stay and order a resetting of the administrative hearing schedule."
So here we are spending thousands of taxpayers dollars on a trial over $5,000.00 of fraud 4 and 5 years ago. Looks to me like a show the public we are on top of it move. Cases like this would be in the hundreds if not thousands in Dougherty County if some investigation was done on a regular basis. I know, the budget and under staffed but if the people there would just do a little investigating more would be found.
Albany has some of the worst drivers on earth. I sometimes think there must be a Stupid Drivers School here and all the graduates are required to clog traffic daily. Driving in the left lane, it is a PASSING lane. Not using turn signals to let other drivers know what you plan to do before you turn in front of them. Running through stop signs and traffic signals just so you can stop at the next one. Speeding up to pass and then suddenly slowing to make a turn. Just a few things that a driver in Albany has to go through every day. Albany police are not much better, I have seen them run over curbs when making a turn and speeding well above the posted limit when not answering a call. I lived in Atlanta for a few years. Once I saw a car come to a complete stop and hesitate in the right lane of a very busy road to then turn into a shopping center. I thought to myself "That guy drives like he is in Albany." I looked at the car as I passed and guess what it had a Dougherty county tag. Just my 2 cents.

Just curious, what is the story behind the turtles. I noticed they appeared out of no where but do not know why or who. Enlighten me.
