Why is Muggridge concerned with free speech NOW? He wasn't concerned September 28, 2010 when he voted to approve a sign ordinance.
OCGA 32-6-97 - clearly States that In fact County Ordinances may be more restrictive than State Law.
OCGA 16-7-58(a)(2) states no
municipal, county, or consolidated
government may restrict by regulation
or other means the length of time a
political campaign sign may be
displayed or the number of signs which
may be displayed on private property
for which permission has been granted
It is clear Nelson never argued the message of the signs, nor the number or the duration. Just the type of sign which according to OCGA 32-6-97 means Lee County officials need to step up and fix the problem. They can either eliminate the ordinance and provide for free speech, or cite those involved and let the magistrate decide the outcome per their code. Any less and the people will see how much integrity current board members have.
And Rick also may need to review political ideologies....He has Conservative Republican confused with democrat and Libertarian confused with Anarchist.
1) The more important question here is why do taxpayer dollars fund party primaries. Primaries should be funded privately by the parties and yes you should have to pay a fee and be a declared member for that part to vote in a primary.
2) The "Official" General Election campaign for every partisan office on the Ballot was started last week...the issue at hand again goes back to uniformed citizen's allowing the two parties spend their tax dollars to decide private party candidates for office.
So the only thing that needs to be fixed is the Democrats and Republicans need to fund and hold their own elections on their own budgets to select their candidates.
Rick Muggridge is doing nothing more than trying to work his way into Ed Rynders seat when he decides to leave office. He will never represent his District on the Board, but he will push GOP RINO agendas like T-SPLOST, building a conference center at the behest of top GOP donors and raising garbage fees.
At the same time he is claiming he stopped a a $250 fee from being added and balanced a budget without raising taxes. You can't stop a fee that wasn't proposed, and increasing fees on garbage is still a tax. especially when you use it to artificially support the General Fund.
I find it offensive that you are calling races that aren't over until Nov 6th or later if there is a run-off. I know 2 of the three district won't be decided until the November 6th date. Your article is very misleading.

Nope it was A) adding garbage fees to the tax bill and B) Unfair application of codes and ordinances.

Those number lie a good bit too.... I know many a Republican who voted DEM in Albany just to oust Anita Brown from the School Board.
