I must say, I agree with both "VSU" and "athens". It does sound like a possibility. Many people that live along the river assume that the river is for their enjoyment only.
After giving it some thought, "VSU" & "athens" may be on to something there. Many times the people that live along the river "assume" it belongs to them and don't want anyone around.
I live in Putney, they plan to increase the mil rate because of the cost of the services they provide us! What services? They don't take into account the fact those of us who live in the unincorporated areas of Dougherty County also spend more on fuel getting to and from Albany where we spend our money. And these appraised or assessed values of our homes, are they willing to pay us that much for our property? I retired here from the military about 17 years ago, guess I believe that "Good Life City" bs. This is one of the very, very, very few places in the U.S. that you can never really own your vehicle, because of Ad Valorem Tax, not even your 4x8 trailer it's ridiculous. But then again I remember about a month ago there was an MSN.com news report listing the most corrupt states, guess what? Georgia was ranked Number 1, for some reason I was not shocked. Guess I'm done complaining, the people that this pertains to are busy counting their money, not concerned about anything I have to say.
