Why not force folks to take responsibility for their right to vote? If you want to vote, you have to register, not wait until the last minute. If we allow a person at the last minute to register, how do the election workers know if that person is a legal citizen, isn't a felon, etc.?
If you want to vote, provide an ID. I'm tired of people saying that this disenfranchises voters. People somehow get driver's licenses and the State offers free IDs to those who don't want to drive, so what's the problem? Prove you are who you say you are. Why is that disenfranchising voters? I still don't get that argument.
Is this law going into effect on July 1st or is it already on the books? I want to buy a car via private sale but wanted to know if it's already too late or do I have until July to make it happen?
Back in Texas, our ad valorem was based on the weight of the car, rather than the value. I had a sedan and it was $35. Then I moved to GA and now I pay about $250 a year. Makes TX and FL look really attractive about now.
My vote had nothing to do with that. I would've easily voted for Allan West or Condoleeza Rice.
No, she should've hurled a box of cake mix at him.
I agree. Get rid of the Electoral College. We re-visit this conversation after each election. This crazy system can at times elect a different person than who received the Popular Vote. Let the President be elected by a popular vote PERIOD. This way, every vote counts the same amount. I'm tired of the votes of Ohio, Pennsylvania, Florida and California residents counting more than mine. My boyfriend didn't even vote in this last election, because he knew that the state was already going red and his vote would not have impacted the election at all.
I've never been to Charley B's, but a good friend of mine used to go there quite frequently and he's a good guy. He never said anything about the place other than they had great karaoke and it was a good bar to watch people at.
I wasn't aware that it was that bad of a place, but then again, I live out Old Dawson Road, so I don't know of the kind of mayhem that exists there.
I keep hearing this term "personal care home", but I've yet heard what happens in these things. Is it a rehab facility, are they opening because of the mental institutions closing, are they really elderly care facilities, what are they???
I just can't seem to get a good handle on what kind of folks are going to be living there.
On the other hand, I'm good if someone wants to pay taxes and keep it from becoming another Phoebe property, thus taking it off the tax rolls.
I wish Les Miserables had received more nods, but that Hollywood crowd always seems to know what is better for the rest of us.
I haven't seen Lincoln yet, but I do intend do soon.
Rats...I always took my business customers there. One of my regulars asks to go there exclusively. Can't go all the way to Lee and I'm not feeling the food truck. I guess food trucks do well in other communities, but I prefer to sit at a table that's inside, especially in the summer. RIP Riverfront BBQ.
I miss the days of San Joe's, Harvest Moon and Riverfront.
I totally agree with the Squawker here. This is why I don't attend movies anymore. I like watching videos at home where I don't have to be subjected to rude inconsiderate people. If you cannot turn your phone off for 2 hours, then the movies is not your largest priority. Be courteous of others and stay out of a dark theatre where people have just spent $35 for a movie, popcorn and Coke.
