For your information, our family is a split ASU/VSU family. The facts speak for themselves.
In the Friday or Saturday paper an ASU Ram player mentioned that some thought that VSU should have been in the playoffs. No knowledgeable football/VSU fan would have made such a comment. VSU finished last in the GSC. End of season. Let's talk facts, not emotions. The convoluted "Earned Access" rule can only be described as akin to a social promotion in education: you got it, but you didn't earn it. The team that got robbed this year was probably Lenoir-Rhyne. They were sitting at #7 prior to the VSU/UNA game with the loser of that game moving out of the top 6 and L/R moving into the 6th spot. Not so fast….ole “Earned Access” once again reared its ugly head and ASU jumped over a higher rated team to take the 6th and last spot. This happened to VSU a couple of years ago also. The next issue relates to strength of schedule. The SIAC is simply a weak conference. They can beat up on each other, but seldom on anyone outside their conference. Come on ASU, if you want respect, join the GSC and see if you can actually EARN a spot in the playoffs for a change.
