I keep all my bills and EOBs, which with my health, leads to quite a file. The reason for this is that eight years ago, my employer switched to a new insurance company and I gave Phoebe that information when I was admitted. The company paid $500 more to Phoebe Putney and sent me a new EOB. The billing department at Phoebe, instead of subtracting $500 from my balance, ADDED it to the balance. I had to fax all the paperwork to the billing department to get it corrected, as well as go to the head of the department.
A not-for-profit entity can make a profit, but they have to re-invest it in the business. People got their opinion of Phoebe when the off-shore accounts, Cuban cigars, etc. were revealed.
I wondered what had possessed him to grow his hair long when I saw the admittedly goofy commercials. It's great to know it was for a worthy cause. I won't be changing the channel when the commercials come on any more, hee. This was a really nice story, and I have a great deal of respect for the Knights!
You are equating someone who accidentally brings a pen home from work or uses the fax machine once a year for something personal as to this guy who was working two jobs at the same time, not just having two jobs, but working two places at once! There's no comparison! And as Jacob pointed out, he was a police officer in a supervisory role. He knew better!
Hee. It's gratifying when we get to see what happens to those who try to hold us back. Rare, but gratifying!
I agree with Walt. It's a pretty big deal when a captain with the ADDU was not just teaching at ASU, but during hours he was supposed to be on duty. With the crime rate in Albany, as well as APD issues, I think this is very newsworthy.
You are correct in that there were internal problems with the restaurant. I never went there, but there were several lawsuits surrounding the way the place was structured in terms of ownership and management. Attorney fees and litigation when you are opening up a new independent restaurant/bar, especially in Albany, will definitely eat your profits up. I felt sorry for Ms. Gavre. I don't know if that was the sole problem in closing, but I imagine it paid a large role.
Only if the person who strikes you has insurance, which they often don't in this town.
Now THAT's funny, since the "rookie" cops are often stuck with the less desirable late night/early morning shifts.
Fifteen years ago, the schools in another county that I worked for maintained a list of chilren receiving free or reduced lunches because a LOT of funding comes from that, as we've heard about here. I can't believe it wouldn't be even more easily accessible or specialized now.
Good post and I thought that, too. Is she so stupid in that simple, self-explanatory forms blow her mind? If so, she shouldn't be a parent OR a school board member. Or does she have a magic thinking cap that she puts on before each board meeting? Maybe that's the reason her mom is always wearing a hat...
