The bible says that "if my people who are called by my name, will humble themselves, pray and seek my face, and turn from they wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and heal their land". Let us pray...
If pot is meeting kettle then that's fine with me, if that's what you gather from reading my comments then ok. However, my focus is upon prayer instead of complaining. We need more people praying for this city instead of complaining. Be blessed.
Chinaberry25, bubbavet, VSU, and maybe a few others are the most negative people in this town. All they do is complain about everything from behind a computer desk. This is their domain....the Squawkbox is a nice outlet for some, however it is still regulated.
If you go through most of the stories on posted on this site, the trio who I listed above, do nothing but spread hate and negativity. Nothing positive ever comes out of their mouths. Look at the story regarding the ASU students receiving honorary degrees.....what was a positive story, and still is in my opinion, is smeared by their ignorance and self-hatred.
Yes, self-hatred because people who are ALWAYS negative and bashing others, tend to hate themselves. The ONLY thing they ever do is whine whine whine. Just go back and browse through the articles and see what comes out of their mouth.
The same people that say they voice their complaints so it will get better, are the same people that continue to prohibit Albany from seeing any growth!
Chinaberry25, Bubbavet, VSU...you all need to find Jesus and quickly. Everyday when I read the articles, the same crew is on her criticizing everything! You 3 are ALWAYS so negative. The only time you comment is when you have something negative to say. The most positive story is smeared and bashed because of your negative, opiniated comments. You all are never encouraging and hardly ever stick to the subject. It is sickening and you all should try praying more and complaining less.
You can get your point across without all of the negativity. Whoever you all are, you should try praying and asking God how you can be helpful instead of continuing to tear this city and the people in it down with the way you guys always speak!.
I know you can't regulate a "blog" or "comments" because people can easily spit venom while hiding in the grass (in this case, behind your computer screen while you are at work) but I will continue to pray for you, this city and all those that dwell within it.
Although it seems bad around here, I know a God who CAN and WILL turn things around for the better and I'm just crazy enough to believe that HE is going to do it! Albany will get better! I have faith in a God who knows how to deliver!!!!
He has to go people. Parents we have to stand up. I don't think Murfree is a bad person, however to pull something like that which will affect so many people unnecessarily, had to be one of the most ignorant decisions I have seen.
The thought was nice, however, this is not ASU (Dr. Freeman has dismissed early for the holidays) you're dealing with thousands of kids whose parents have to work and the notification time was unacceptable. It's not the bell rings and the kids leave in their own cars...it was just not a smart move....one out of many.
I want to say again, I don't think he is a bad person but I believe we need better leadership because at the end of the day it's about what is best for our children.
@chinaberry25 you are right, I do seem to be the only one that wants a little mercy thrown their way. All I'm saying is sometimes people need a wake up call. I don't think the teachers are poor teachers or poor administrators for that matter, I just believe that some had gotten comfortable and lazy and yes, failed our students.
But, I do believe in redemption. Who can say where the buck started. The students could have been passed along from one grade to the next lacking in the ability to be in that grade.
I'm not making excuses for these people by no means. Cheating is wrong and should not go unpunished. In all fairness, parents should be aware if their child is struggling while working with them at night and reviewing their work each week when it is sent home. Maybe I'm a sap on this but I do believe some mercy should be thrown their way. We got teachers and what nots charged with DUI's who people want to be shown mercy, but teachers who made bad judgment for the sake of their jobs (still no excuse, I get it) to get fired just like that.
@Jack_Frost, I have no proof that phone calls were made and other back room deals to get this CRCT investigation going. I do believe that had it not been such a big hoopla surrounding the hiring of Dr. Murfree this would not have gone as far as it did. To think that cheating only took place in the DCSS and APS systems is absurd in my opinion.
Have a good day folks, God loves you!
Haha! I get it now, had to keep reading the paper :)
@chinaberry25, I am not on welfare, I work everyday and pay taxes just like any other citizen. I'm not promoting dishonesty, I just think its sad for so many people to lose their jobs and that's that. It is sad to me and I don't make excuses for it being sad to me, it just is!!! They are not turning out poorly educated children, there are outstanding students that come from the DCSS although I do believe that most of the learning takes place in the homes and from students having a supporting family.
@cartman, If you want to talk about corrupt public employees, that can take all day on many levels...name one politician in this area that is not doing backhanded deals to get what they want at the end of the day
@gotanyfacts, I know that cheating is wrong and it does not look good. However, Dougherty County and the Atlanta area schools are not the only schools were admins and teachers cheat. If there was not such a big squabble surrounding the unjustified hiring of Dr. Murfree as Superintendent then this issue would not be as big as it is. I am glad that the cheating has been brought into the light, however, punishment does not have to be firing qualified admins and teachers who got sucked up into a horrible act. Especially when the system is already filled with long term subs.
I have no problem with anyone who disagrees with me. It happens. At the end of the day, we, on this side, will never really know what all happened. We are not teachers (probably most of us commenting anyway) and we are not working with these kids every day.
I don't get it?
This is so sad. I honestly believe that any of the teachers and administrators that may have been involved in the cheating have learned their lesson. I think to fire them and have them resign is just too much. I could maybe understand it better if the students did not do well on the CRCT last year when the test was guarded like the White House. I'm sorry for anybody having to go through this. At the end of the day this is all political and that's my opinion.
