You have selected one verse out of many. God ordered and ordained the killing of children for many things - being disrespectful, disobedience. Heck, he killed 42 children for making fun of a bald prophet.

Here is the sickness of your faith. Had that shooter looked around that school and saw the horror he had just committed was overcome with guilt and got on his knees, confessed that he was a sinner and asked Jesus to save him before putting the final bullet in his own head, he would be in heaven today. However, if the young teacher who died shielding her students with her own body had never accepted Jesus because she found insufficient evidence for such belief, she would be in hell today. Do you not recognize the sickness and immorality of such belief?

You misunderstand. Magical thinking harms people. Irrational thought harms people. There is no evidence for any god, the Christian god, any of the Hindu gods, etc., etc. Morality does not come from some supernatural invisible being, it comes from our nature as social being, recognizing that it is not in our best interests to hurt other humans. Mother Teresa (a Christian) tried to help others, Hitler (a Christian also) hurt others. Surely, you can recognize that. If you believe morality comes from a god, what if that god said tomorrow that you should kill children? Would that behavior now be moral? After all, you are allowing another being to dictate your morality instead of using your brain and logic and reason. Futhermore, Sister, if you had the ability and the power to have prevented that massacre, would you? I know I would have as a moral individual. Your supposed god had the power and ability to prevent it, to save the lives of those children and teachers and he chose not to. Why is that? Take all the time you need...

So now god is not omnipotent and omnipresent? Man is more powerful than god and can kick him out of a school? What a weak god! How about we stop with magical thinking and look for real answers to real problems.

Additionally, I don't particularly care for the Christian god's take on violence against children as he seems to be all for it.

Deuteronomy 2:32-34 Then Sihon came out against us, he and all his people, unto battle at Jahaz. And Jehovah our God delivered him up before us; and we smote him, and his sons, and all his people. And we took all his cities at that time, and utterly destroyed every inhabited city, with the women and the little ones; we left none remaining.

Deuteronomy 3:3-6 So the LORD our God delivered Og also, king of Bashan, with all his people into our hand, and we smote them until no survivor was left. We captured all his cities at that time; there was not a city which we did not take from them: sixty cities, all the region of Argob, the kingdom of Og in Bashan. All these were cities fortified with high walls, gates and bars, besides a great many unwalled towns. We utterly destroyed them, as we did to Sihon king of Heshbon, utterly destroying the men, women and children of every city.

1 Samuel 15:3,8 Now go, attack the Amalekites and totally destroy everything that belongs to them. Do not spare them; put to death men and women, children and infants, cattle and sheep, camels and donkeys.' " … He took Agag king of the Amalekites alive, and all his people he totally destroyed with the sword.

Hosea 13:16 Samaria shall bear her guilt, because she has rebelled against her God; they shall fall by the sword, their little ones shall be dashed in pieces, and their pregnant women ripped open.

There it is - straight from the bible. God has nothing to do with the school shooting as he does not exist. However, we do exist and it is up to us to find out the cause of these violent mental breakdowns and put a stop to them. If we are waiting on an invisible man in the sky to solve our problems they will never be solved.

Ezekiel 9:6 "Slay utterly old and young, both maids, and little children, and women . . . "

Isaiah 13:16 "Their children also shall be dashed to pieces before their eyes; their houses shall be spoiled, and their wives ravished."

Deuteronomy 13:15 "Thou shalt surely smite the inhabitants of that city with the edge of the sword, destroying it utterly . . . "

Leviticus 20:9 "For every one that curseth his father or his mother shall be surely put to death . . . "

Exodus 32:27 ". . . Thus saith the LORD God of Israel, Put every man his sword by his side, and go in and out from gate to gate throughout the camp, and slay every man his brother, and every man his companion, and every man his neighbour."

Deut 21:10-12 "When thou goest forth to war against thine enemies, and the LORD thy God hath delivered them into thine hands, and thou hast taken them captive, And seest among the captives a beautiful woman, and hast a desire unto her, that thou wouldest have her to thy wife; Then thou shalt bring her home to thine house, and she shall shave her head, and pare her nails; "

Exodus 31:15 " . . . whosoever doeth any work in the sabbath day, he shall surely be put to death."

Deut 21:21 "And all the men of his city shall stone him with stones, that he die . . . "

What were you saying again about the bible not glorifying violence? The reality of the text is that god not only condones it, he orders it. I stand by my statement. Violence in literature is nothing new. Something else is going on here.

Stories of violence and depravity are as old as the written word. Just read the Old Testament. It's full of horrible, violent acts - many of them inflicted on children. What we need to realize is that there is something causing these types of crimes to happen with greater frequency and we need to find out what it is so we can change it. Something is causing a psychological break to occur in young white men resulting in horrific crimes, the fact that they have access to advanced weapons to carry out their depraved visions certainly doesn't help.

The problem isn't the school system, it's the homes and families. You could take this school system with these same administrators, teachers and facilities and fill the school with Asians and the schools would be first class with high graduation rates and academic success. It's a cultural thing and throwing money at the problem won't fix the problem. But we can't point that out. That's inappropriate.

Salvation from what? What evidence do you have for any of the events in the bible other than the bible itself?

I re-read the post. The poster said they were overwhelmed with Kwanzaa, Ramadan and Day of the Dead. Those observances receive a fraction of a fraction of what Christmas receives with regard to hype and promotion. To try and compare them is intellectually dishonest.

Actually, there are very few non-believers in Iran and Syria, they just believe in a different version of god. Why did you choose the version of god you did? Why not Islam, Hindu, Jainsim? Seriously, what made you choose Christianity? Perhaps you were just raised to believe it.
