howsad 1 year, 2 months ago on County commissioners debate funding NYSP

How sad that Comm Hayes is upset. He needs to consider that perhaps parents might have a role in raising their kids. $15 per kid per week from parents isn't too much to ask for all day babysitting service. He would lead us to total socialism if he could and drain the County coffers bone dry in the process. By the way...the money cited comes from court fines...not from any tax efforts. The program Comm Hayes wants to spend $15,000 on does not qualify under the requirements of the law governing the program. Comm Hayes knows this, but turns a blind eye to that fact and is up to his much too often political grandstanding for his low information voters in his district. The money is best (and legally) spent through education programs at the jail and the Sheriff's CHAMPS program in local schools.

How sad...there he goes again. Comm Hayes sit on the Finance Cmte and full well knows that SPLOST $$$ can't be used to fund operational efforts like running a library. He is simply again politically grandstanding for his low information voter base and governing by deception and devious methods. How sad we have such in positions of trust.

howsad 1 year, 5 months ago on U.S. Postal service to end Saturday delivery; Bishop weighs in

How sad...Rep Bishop is up to his usual political grandstanding on an issue he should have taken action on long ago. As usual, he will get some press coverage on the issue, but will present absolutely no meaningful ideas or a solution to the problem. He needs to go the way of Saxby Chambliss.

howsad 1 year, 6 months ago on Bush steps down as BOE chairman

How sad...Bush has got something devious planned. It is doubtful that he would relinquish his self-thought seat of importance without a plan to continue his proven misdirection of the DCSB.

howsad 1 year, 7 months ago on Hayes in, Black out on Library Board

How Sad--- How about if Mr Hayes' first action as a Library Board member be to seperate library visitors into two catagories: those interested in books/research/learning and those interested in the county supplemented internet cafe. If he would visit each branch he would see that the majority of the visitors are simply checking emails and surfing the net. Next thing will be to give the entitlement society free laptops and internet access in addition to their Obama phones.

howsad 1 year, 7 months ago on Officials hail county jail’s automated phone system

How sad. If I read correctly, almost half of the calls received are from the inmates checking their cash balance in their commissary account. Looks to me like smoke and mirrors.

howsad 1 year, 10 months ago on City officials want better communications with WG&L

How sad...come on Ms Mayor...how about a little leadership on the WG&l issue. Afterall, you are the Mayor. Afterall, you are the Chairwoman of the WG&L Board. If the status quo... your complete lack of action and not even a suggestion is the best you have to offer...then you are merely a useless figurehead drawing a paycheck at taxpayer expense. How sad...

howsad 1 year, 11 months ago on City, WG&L issues continue

Both entities are currently using the taxpayer funded MEAG trust as a slush fund to pay for things like the Gang Division of APD. That fund was created by overcharges on utilities on the citizens of Albany in past years. We have a problem in our city that needs to be addressed now. The problem is in the area of city utilities. Stop the chest thumping and start the process of cleaning up the site using MEAG funds. By the way...where has Ms Mayor been for the past seven months that she has been the Chairperson of the WG&L Board of Directors? She has been silent on this issue and the issue of moving under the control of the city manager. Where do you stand Ms Mayor?

All three are part of the "do nothing congress" merely offering more lip service and no action.
