Muskets were the "assault weapon" of the day when then constitution was written. Please do not forget this country was founded by a bunch of citizens whom primarily manufactured their own "assualt weapons" and used them to defeat a tyrannical government (that also possessed the greatest army and navy of its time). Hence the 2nd amendment...to keep private citizens and the Government on an even playing field. If you don't like it, move to Australia.
Funny how no one is mentioning Columbine...the one that kinda started all the Mass Shootings, the one that the media has tragically made famous...it happened in 1999. RIGHT DURING THE MIDDLE OF THE LAST "ASSAULT WEAPON" BAN (1994-2004).
On April 20, Harris was equipped with a 12-gauge Savage-Springfield 67H pump-action shotgun, (which he discharged a total of 25 times) and a Hi-Point 995 Carbine 9 mm carbine with thirteen 10-round magazines, which he fired a total of 96 times.
Klebold was equipped with a 9 mm Intratec TEC-9 semi-automatic handgun with one 52-, one 32-, and one 28-round magazine and a 12-gauge Stevens 311D double-barreled sawed-off shotgun. Klebold primarily fired the TEC-9 handgun, for a total of 55 times.
One had guns that met the ban requirements, one did not.
Let me get this straight...our commissioners are increasing a tax and really aren't sure where to spend the money! HA! That's kinda like getting a bonus and not knowing what to do with it...wait a minute, that rarely happens know a days. How bout this Albany leadership...no more taxes, ESPECIALLY WITH NO GOOD REASON!!! What a bunch of clowns...Marietta, I'm not sure that you are concerned about your next election.
The comment made by the ASU senior is so small minded...Does she think that Bishop gets student aid specifically for this region? Last time I checked, student aid was available at any college that used federal funding and available to any student who qualified. I'm still paying off my loans! Give me a break, fact is Bishop rarely shows his face in his region except for election time. He is a career politician and will now have his seat until he chooses to retire thanks to the redistricting. This is why I am a strong advocate for term limits for all politicians! Look at his voting record or lack there of (many times he abstanes from voting). Don't be fooled folks, Sanford is worried about Sanford and his family...not his constituents! This has been proven! Look it up for yourself.
It was all about the content! If this would have been pro-obama, nothing would have ever been made of it. I hope that code enforcement gets off their a$$ and goes and gives everyone flying a banner in town a fine, because I would venture to say nobody has paid their $30 fee. I've seen banners everywhere...the new olive garden, cell phone stores, you name it! Here's an idea Mr. Thomas...laminate it to a couple of sheets of plywood and put it on some 4x4 posts!
I think everyone is missing the BIG PICTURE on this one...how about less taxes and LESS GOVERNMENT! The "hospital authority" is tax-free in part because it is part of the Government (or at least hides behind its cloak)! What we really need are responsible Government employees that don't spend the money like it's free (and less of them)! I do agree that a lrage portion of these entities should be on the tax roll, but I also think the millage rate and all taxes are extremely too high due to inefficiency.
