Not to mention, imagine if we had a TGI Fridays or a Carraba's downtown on Pine and after dinner the partons could walk across the street to the baby IMAX theatre that the Riverquarium owns and they have leased to Carmike to show IMAX movies in the evenings and weekends.
What I don't understand is why hasn't Mr. Brooks turned that building at Washington and Broad into Condo's/Apartments? Put a private parking garage in back where the old news paper used to be.. Take the bottom floor, make it a lobby, perhaps add a resturant. Have valet parking for residents and bonified guests. Have a livery service drive guests to events at the theatre, the civic center etc. Imagine the view of the river and fireworks from the tallest building in downtown.
If we had one governing body stupid stuff like this wouldn't happen.
If the truth be known Walt, I suspect he probably didn't mean for it to turn out that way. But when the blood starts pumping when you wade into something like that, things happen that you don't expect. Like you, we settled our differences at the park after school too. Of course, we didn't have to worrk about knives or guns. Just fists and kicks to the stomach if you fell to the ground.
Walt, Let's not pretend we are talking about children here. We are talking about people in High School. People who text and drive, have babies and all of the other "Adult" activities that 16, 17 and 18 year olds do. If they want to fight and put themselves and others at risk, let them suffer the consequences. They want to act grown, let them suffer. Some how I doubt that you weren't given the paddle of correction when you were in school either. Fights get out or control in a hurry. Would you have rather everyone stood back and watched until the losing side broke out a gun to even the score?
Walt, What's wrong with you? He did the correct thing. He jerked an knot in her tail and the fighting stopped. It didn't increase. It stopped. Period. Anger management my behind... People like you are why we have the crap we have now.
I think the resturants downtown have excellent food. Unfortunately, with my job, I can't get out to eat there very often during the day. I liked to go to Riverfront on Friday nights when they were open. I think they have the best BBQ in Albany. Cafe 230 had excellent food too. I just think it is going to be hard for anyone to keep something going downtown just catering to the lunch crowd. San Joes seemed to have a good thing doing downtown after dark. Too bad the building owner ran them off with a lack of building maintenance.
Ah. I'm not a Seinfeld fan so thanks for the info.
We have been a large diverse group for 237 years Patrick. it is only in the last generation or so that Christmas has become offensive to a select few who want to gripe and cry all the while participating in what now passes as Christmas. Doubt any of the non-Christian people stay home on black friday when they start having the "Christmas" sales.
