Sandtrap Club and Lounge shooting suspect arrested

ALBANY — An Albany man wanted in connection with a recent shooting at an area night club was arrested on assault charges about midnight Friday.
Officers from the Albany Gang Taskforce arrested Jarrell Leconte Stroud Jr., 20, and his live-in girlfriend, Kimya Michelle Thomas, at a residence on the 600 block of West Society Avenue about midnight Friday, according to a police report.
Authorities had been looking for Stroud in connection with in a shooting that occurred at 2:30 a.m. Feb. 8 when gunmen fired shots into vehicles outside the Sandtrap Club and Lounge at 911 E. Oglethrope Blvd. Bullets fired during shooting also reportedly struck a room at the Albany 8 Inn next to the Sandtrap, according to Albany Police Department spokesperson Phyllis Banks.
Banks said officers had located Stroud through their investigative efforts and that authorities were still looking for a second suspect, Antwon Bernard Johnson, 22, who she said was involved in the earlier incident.
Stoud has been charged with aggravated assault and simple battery. Reports also indicate Stroud was wanted on other, unrelated arrest warrants.
Thomas, who was identified as Stroud’s live-in girlfriend in the report, was arrested on a charge of hindering apprehension. Both ere being held Saturday in the Dougherty County Jail.
