New Waffle House going up near Darton

There are going to be some smothered, covered and chunked Cavaliers in 2013, thanks a decision by Waffle House to build a brand-spankin' new restaurant on the edge of the Darton State College campus.

Tracy Hester, the go-to guy for all permitting and inspection questions in the city of Albany's Planning and Development Office, said Wednesday that Waffle House were indeed planning to build a new store on a lot somewhere between Westover Boulevard and the former Beef O' Brady's building on Gillionville but that a formal address hasn't been given yet.

That being said, the purveyors of the wondrous waffles should begin construction sometime within the next 60 to 90 days.

I like Waffle House food. Food inventories turn over enough to keep fresh and their prices are fairly reasonable. The operation hours are customer friendly and the local unit waitresses are personable. I just hope they aren't robbed a lot like the fast food place on Oakridge. Glad to see it in the neighorhood let's show that $5 a cup bunch what real food is.

(1.) Darton College is a beacon of light for the community. Bravo. Waffle House opening is a outstanding idea, & they should do very, very well. Do not listen to any negative comments. This is a great decision, I am Impressed. Thus, 20 years from now, I hope they are still located here. Again, Bravo !

(2.) Maybe downtown Albany can learn from this lesson. Bring in (Major Names) , to get people to want to visit ! That is why the hotel does well downtown. In our case, major names work. Peace

I don't know where you got this map of Darton but it's wrong!

I can't wait! I'll be eating there frequently since it's on my way to work every day. The people are nice, the service is fast, and their waffles are the best.

It seems odd that the staff at the Westover/Dawson Rd. Waffle House have not heard of this. I wonder also if this is the same corner selected by Mike Rogers for his new "Mike's Country Store" ?
