ALBANY — Turner Job Corp students recently gave a helping hand to the Albany Area YMCA.

The facilities maintenance trade students assisted in hedging, weed-eating and raking around the Y’s Sports Park Pool. The students’ assistance is what Business-Community Liaison Victoria Brackins called “a great effort with perfect timing,” as the local Y, Dougherty County Public Safety and other community partners prepare to launch their water safety program, Swim for Life.

The partners, according to Brackins, will offer affordable swimming lessons to area youths, making the sports park pool a key component of the initiative.
