Albany area veterans groups planning Memorial Day commemorations

Albany American Legion Post 30 members will decorate the post’s Gillionville Road headquarters on Friday.

ALBANY — Southwest Georgia veterans organizations are planning a number of Memorial Day events to remember those who have fallen in defense of the nation.

“We always want to let those who lost their lives and their families know that we do appreciate it and it wasn’t in vain,” Etris Smith, commander of Albany American Legion Post 512, said. “We’re going to have a program that Monday.”
