Woman killed on Mock Road identified as Rhonda Cutshall-Smith, 50

ALBANY — The Albany Police Department has confirmed that Rhonda Cutshall-Smith, 50, was killed after being struck by a car on the 1300 block of Mock Road Saturday night. The APD identified Frederick Hunter, 46, of Albany, as the driver of the 2015 Mitsubishi Mirage that struck the victim.

Dispatch received first call on the incident around 6:35 p.m.

According to an APD report, Hunter was traveling north on South Mock Road. Cutshall-Smith was at a residence in the 1300 block of the thoroughfare when she was notified that her dog had been struck by a vehicle.

Cutshall-Smith reportedly ran into the eastbound lane of the road in an attempt to find her dog.

The report further stated that a southbound vehicle swerved to avoid the pedestrian. Cutshall-Smith continued traveling east and was struck by Hunter’s vehicle. Witnesses stated that a northbound truck also struck Cutshall-Smith and continued traveling north away from the scene.

Hunter was arrested for driving with a suspended drivers license. No other charges are pending since Cutshall-Smith entered the road in front of the vehicles.
