Hilton Segler
On Thursday, July 4, 2019, Hilton Ray Segler, loving husband, father and grandfather passed away at the age of 82 in Albany, GA.
Mr. Segler was born on April 26, 1937 in Dale County, AL to William Foy and Willie Clyde (Dunn) Segler. He is a graduate of Albany High School class of 1956 and married Wanda Faye Wilson of Sycamore, GA on January 20, 1957.
Hilton's lifelong career in the agricultural industry began in ag chemical sales in 1957. Through the years he developed a special interest in and love of pecans and became a leader in the pecan industry. He was just as comfortable with all agronomic crops. Mr. Segler had the privilege to testify before Congress on behalf of the pecan industry in the 2002, 2008 and 2012 Farm Bill. In 2010 he lead the effort to gain approval for the international promotion of pecans. From being a grower, a consultant and marketing pecans worldwide, his experience was on the job and his teachers were the best in the agriculture business.
He was preceded in death by his father, Foy and his mother, Clyde. Hilton is survived by his wife Faye of Albany, daughter Rhonda Hayes (Danny) of Cordele, GA, son Scott Segler of Lawrenceville, GA, daughter Jaimie Murdock (Shelton) of Dawson, GA, his sister, Jean Smith of Birmingham, AL, granddaughter Aubree McCurdy (Barry) of Monterey, CA, grandsons Jay and Hill Murdock and great grandchildren Brandt, Addie and Macklin McCurdy.
Visitation will be held at 10:00 am, Saturday July 6, 2019 with a funeral service following at 11:00 am at Kimbrell-Stern. Interment to follow at Crown Hill Cemetery. Family and friends are making a charitable gift to the charity of their choice.
