One of the differences from the early years of the modern rock ‘n’ roll era to current-day music is emotions. It was common for early songs to grab a listener’s heartstrings with words like “crying,” “lonely” and “tears.”

In “Old Rocker” parlance, “pick six” means the top six selections in a particular category, in this case the six best football films of all time.

Officials from government, radio stations and religious organizations attempted to control the content of rock ‘n’ roll music during the genre’s early stages. They failed miserably.
