ALL-AREA BASKETBALL: Herald announces basketball players, coaches of the year

The Albany Herald announces its all-area basketball teams today. Pelham senior Quadranique Franklin is the girls player of the year after helping her team reach the Class AA state quarterfinals.

Worth County senior Brandon Moore was a key factor in leading the Rams back to the state basketball tournament. He is the boys player of the year.

Pelham girls coach Antonia Tookes guided the Lady Hornets to a 28-2 record and a third consecutive Region 1-AA title. She is the girls coach of the year.

Deerfield-Windsor boys coach Gordy Gruhl earned boys coach of the year honors after helping the Knights capture the GISA Region 3-AAA crown and a trip to the state semifinals.
