Atlanta United signed defender Ronald Hernandez on loan from Scotland's Aberdeen FC for the 2021 season.
The 23-year-old Venezuelan will occupy an international roster spot, the MLS club announced Thursday.
"Ronald is a young, talented defender and we're pleased to add him to our roster," Atlanta United vice president and technical director Carlos Bocanegra said in a news release. "Like many international players, he had to endure difficult circumstances over the last year and we're eager to give him an opportunity to compete in a new environment."
Hernandez joined Aberdeen in January 2020 and made four appearances at the end of the 2019-20 season. He appeared in four matches during the 2020-21 Scottish Premiership season before heading to Atlanta.
His professional career also includes stints with Venezuela's Zamora FC (2015-17) and Norway's Stabaek (2017-20).
In Atlanta, Hernandez will be reunited with fellow Venezuelan national team member and Five Stripes striker Josef Martinez.
