Albany State head men’s basketball coach Patrick Gayle has announced the hiring of Robert Stark to the Golden Rams coaching staff.

Stark’s roles will include on-court coaching, recruiting, mentoring and managing all social media duties related to the men’s basketball program.

“I am extremely grateful for the opportunity to be part of ASU basketball. Everyone has been great since I joined the staff,” Stark said. “This is a dream come true to be able to work in the NCAA, so I really feel blessed to continue doing what I love, which is helping the guys achieve their dreams as well.”

Before joining the Golden Rams, Robert served as a coach at Albany Tech. During his tenure at Albany Tech, he achieved significant milestones, including a triumphant regular season championship in the 2023-24 season and an impressive 43 wins, including two seasons with 20 or more victories.

“We are blessed to have the opportunity to add an enthusiastic and tireless worker like Coach Stark to the program,” Gayle said. “He fits the profile of what our outstanding leader, Dr. Kelly, is looking for in creating the best environment and experience for student-athletes.”

Stark’s coaching career began with the City of Orlando, where he spent three successful years as a trainer at Heart Over Hype. Due to his exceptional skills and dedication, he was promoted to assistant coach at Pro Holmes Sports in Tampa, Florida, for two years. Stark was crucial in developing three talented players who secured spots in prestigious four-year programs.

A native of San Diego, Stark earned a bachelor’s degree in communications from the University of Central Florida, and he is currently pursuing a master’s degree in sports administration from Arkansas State University.
