Jim Fowler Experience donations to go through Earthquest
Upcoming feature at Chehaw to honor late founder

ALBANY — The family of the late Jim Fowler, wildlife advocate and founder of Chehaw park who passed away at age 89 last week, has announced that funds for a feature planned for Chehaw honoring Fowler are to go through Earthquest.
This follows an announcement in a family newsletter shortly after his death on May 8 that stated donations were to go directly to Chehaw. The family has since contacted The Albany Herald stating that there was a misunderstanding.
Mark Fowler, Jim Fowler’s son, said he wants donations to go through Earthquest to help build a “Jim Fowler Experience” feature at the park.
The younger Fowler said that, in lieu of flowers or gifts, to donate to the Jim Fowler Legacy Fund via a tax deductible donation to Earthquest, checks should be made payable to: Earthquest, 1583 North L St., Pine Mountain Valley, 31823.
A credit card donation page should be available soon via PayPal, the Fowler family said.
The Jim Fowler Experience, while early in the concept stages, is expected to include new animal exhibits and interactive media focused around his adventures and love of birds of prey, highlighting and honoring Fowler’s 60 years spent blending education and entertainment to inspire people to care about wildlife.
Fowler’s appearances on “Johnny Carson,” “Mutual of Omaha’s Wild Kingdom,” “The Today Show” and “Seinfeld” exposed global audiences to his passion of wildlife conservation. Chehaw is currently working to finalize concepts for the upcoming feature to be made available to the public in the coming months as they are completed.
A native of Albany who was living in Connecticut at the time of his passing, Fowler was instrumental in founding Chehaw in the 1970s.
