ALBANY – Albany Technical College has three new funding options to support nursing students residing in the Living and Learning Community. These opportunities aim to alleviate housing costs and provide financial stability for students pursuing their nursing education.
The funding options include the Albany Tech Foundation Housing Scholarship, the Phoebe Putney Health System Work Commitment, and the AB&T Lending Program.
To provide more details about these funding options and the Living and Learning Community, ATC will host information sessions on Tuesday from 3-6 p.m. in the Healthcare Technology Building, Room 118 and Saturday 9 a.m.-2 p.m. in the Kirkland Conference Center on the campus of Albany Technical College.
Albany Tech Foundation Housing Scholarship: To assist with housing costs at the Living and Learning Community, the Albany Tech Foundation will award ten $2,500 scholarships for the 2024-25 academic year. Eligible applicants must be enrolled in ATC’s Associate of Science in Nursing or Practical Nursing programs and maintain a minimum GPA of 2.75. The application deadline is July 1, with notifications sent by July 15.
“ATC is committed to supporting our students’ success both academically and personally,” Albany Tech President Emmett Griswold said. “This scholarship is a testament to our dedication to removing barriers and providing resources that help our students thrive.”
Phoebe Putney Health System Work Commitment: Phoebe offers a forgivable loan program covering monthly rent at the Living and Learning Community for eligible nursing students. The loan is forgivable upon full-time employment with Phoebe following graduation. Each month of employment equates to one month of loan forgiveness, ensuring financial relief for those who commit to serving in Phoebe’s health care facilities.
“We are proud to partner with ATC to support the next generation of health care professionals,” Phoebe Putney Health System President/CEO Scott Steiner said. “This program not only assists students financially but also strengthens our work force with dedicated and skilled nurses.”
AB&T Lending Program: AB&T has developed a loan program specifically for nursing students at ATC. This program provides funding based on housing costs during their enrollment, followed by a structured repayment plan post-graduation. The loan features favorable terms, including a fixed interest rate and the ability to make interest-only payments while in school.
“We are incredibly proud to offer these valuable funding opportunities to our students,” Lisa Stephens, Albany Tech’s associate vice president of Academic Affairs, said. “Securing these resources has been a vital part of our commitment to student success and community partnership.”
