Dyer, who is the Superintendent of the Dougherty County School System, has demonstrated a solid commitment to education and the community throughout his career, Albany Tech officials said in a news release, adding that Dyer is an experienced leader with a proven track record in the education management industry. His proficiency in management, strategic planning, leadership, and team building makes him a superb choice to steer the Albany Technical College Board.
As a long-time advocate for education, officials said Dyer’s appointment is expected to significantly strengthen the strategic direction of Albany Tech.
The new board chairman is an alumnus of Albany State University, where he earned both a bachelor’s degree in accounting and a Master of Business Administration degree focused on Finance. His commitment to service extends beyond his professional roles, as evidenced by his long-standing involvement in Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity and his dedication as a deacon at the Mount Zion Baptist Church in Albany.
“I am both humbled and honored to be given this opportunity to serve as the chair of the Albany Technical College Board,” Dyer said. “As an advocate for education and a strong believer in its power to transform lives, I am excited about the possibilities that lie ahead. I look forward to working collaboratively with all of the board members, faculty, students, and the community to ensure we provide the best educational opportunities possible.”
Magaddino, the regional president and chief credit officer at PeoplesSouth Bank, has built an impressive career in the financial industry and has been a staunch advocate for commercial banking and business growth in the Albany area. His leadership and financial insight will be instrumental in guiding the foundation’s activities and promoting Albany Tech’s educational mission, ATC officials said.
Magaddino is a University of Georgia — Terry College of Business graduate with a B.B.A. in Marketing. He further honed his skills in the financial sector at the Graduate School of Banking at Louisiana State University. His reputation for excellence is well-demonstrated in his roles across the financial industry, and he has made significant contributions as regional president and chief credit officer at PeoplesSouth Bank, Albany Tech officials noted.
“I am excited to be stepping into the role of chair for the Albany Tech Foundation,” Magaddino said. “Having worked in the banking and financial sector for many years, I am passionate about fostering economic growth and believe education plays a crucial role. I’m excited to leverage my experiences to help advance the mission of Albany Tech and enhance the opportunities available to our students and the wider community.”
Both Dyer’s and Magaddino’s appointments come at a crucial time as Albany Technical College continues to navigate the evolving educational landscape and works to meet the needs of its students and community.
