ALBANY — Not sure how to keep your students entertained and engaged during summer vacation? Albany State University provides safe, fun and enriching summer camp opportunities for elementary, middle and high school students.
JUNE
Albany State Youth Enrichment Program
• Dates: June 3-July 19
• Deadline to register: May 17
• Cost: Free
• Age requirement: 7 to 14 years old
The Albany State Youth Enrichment Program is a community outreach initiative designed to provide students within the city of Albany and Dougherty County was well as surrounding counties an opportunity to engage in various enrichment activities.
The primary venture of the program is to include youth development, physical fitness and wellness, and the development of social and academic skills. Participants will engage in hands-on sports activities (basketball, volleyball, softball, kickball, swimming) and immersive academic courses. This summer outreach program also will allow participants to think and begin planning their educational and professional careers.

Solar Energy Summer Camp – A Step Toward a Green Sustainable Society

• Cost: Free
• Age requirement: Ages 15 and older
The Solar Energy Summer Camp — “A Step Toward a Green Sustainable Society” — is planned as a two-week clean-energy summer program for 30 local high schoolers (ninth through 12th grade) by increasing their awareness of the scientific, technological, economic, environmental and practical knowledge associated with solar energy, along with hands-on activities to train them with state-of-the-art techniques and cutting-edge technologies in clean energy, exposing them to all possible clean energy-related career pathways.

National Summer Transportation Institute Program
• Dates: June 3-28
• Deadline to register: May 15
• Cost: Free
• Age requirement: Ninth through 12th grade
The Federal Highway Administration funds the Summer Transportation Institute program through the Georgia Department of Transportation. The program aims to expose minority youth to career opportunities in the transportation industry. Participants will attend field trips, including an overnight trip.

ASU Accelerated Research Training Experience & Mentorship in STEM Precollege Summer Institute Scholars Program
• Dates: June 2-15
• Deadline to register: May 19
• Cost: Free
• Age requirement: 15 to 17 years old (rising 10th and 11th graders)
The ASU Accelerated Research Training Experience & Mentorship in STEM Precollege Summer Institute is a two-week, day residential camp for rising sophomore and junior high school students interested in pursuing a STEM-based career and is sponsored by NASA.
Participating students will explore careers in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM). The ARTEMIS Precollege Summer Institute offers active, hands-on learning in STEM and college preparation and career-based mentoring. ASU students, faculty and staff organize a week of creative activities and lessons incorporating science into the daily curricula, including flying UAVs (drones), launching rockets, microcontrollers and chemistry. Students also will participate in a weeklong Data Science and Artificial Intelligence workshop hosted in part by Wells Fargo.
Students will be introduced to real-world science applications through off-campus trips to locations such as the U.S. Space & Rocket Center in Huntsville, Alabama. The program is committed to enhancing science education and increasing the number of minorities and women in STEM fields.
This program includes:
• Two weeks of housing and meals (costs covered)
• Supplies for STEM activities
• Field trip to the Kennedy Space Center in Orlando, Florida

NASA Summer STEM Enrichment Program
• Dates: June 10-28

• Cost: Free
• Age requirement: Rising sixth through 12th grade students

Session 2: Ardruino & Robotics — June 17-20
Session 3: Game Design & Music — June 24-27
ASU’s Center for Blockchain Innovation and Emerging Technology will host its annual Summer STEM Enrichment Program at ASU’s East Campus. ASU will provide three uniquely themed sessions of weeklong STEM camps. Each session consists of fun hands-on STEM/STEAM activities that provide students with technology, problem-solving, challenges and cooperative activities. Sessions are designed to help students develop the skills, knowledge and capabilities needed for the technology-driven world. Both girls and boys will find fun and creative activities in the weeklong camp sessions. Programs will include take-home components so participants can continue expanding their knowledge.
The camp will be held from Monday through Thursday with a morning session from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. and an afternoon session from 1 to 5 p.m. Lunch will be provided.

Social Justice Youth Summer Camp

• Age requirement: Eighth through 12th grade students
The Social Justice Youth Summer Camp will expose participants to social justice activism and other social justice issues, enabling them to become better-informed citizens. Students have the opportunity to become better equipped to handle themselves in encounters with society and social control mechanisms. Participants will attend field trips, including an overnight trip.
