ALBANY — The Albany Fire Department will begin hydrant inspections on Monday.

The goal of hydrant testing is to ensure a reliable water source in the event of a fire, verify the operation of the hydrant, and identify areas of the distribution system that may need maintenance or repair.

During the inspection process, tap water could become temporarily cloudy or discolored. The cloudiness or discolored water does not diminish the safety of the water.

If your water is discolored, please allow your cold tap water to run for a few minutes or until it runs clear.

The city of Albany is working to ensure the public’s safety. Motorists also are strongly advised to drive slowly and use caution when in the vicinity of fire department crews.
