MARINE CORPS LOGISTICS BASE-Albany — The Marine base here is scheduled to host its annual Independence Day celebration Friday from 5-10 p.m.
The event is free and open to the public.
Various food and beverage vendors will be on hand, and plenty of entertainment is planned for both children and adults. Some planned activities include an animal education presentation by Chehaw, a military working dog demonstration, inflatables and water slides, a whole-hog BBQ contest and a beer garden. Entertainment will include local rap/rock fusion band Unbreakable Bloodline.
All attendees are reminded not to bring weapons of any kind, alcohol, coolers, personal fireworks or pets (with the exception of service dogs) onto the base. Lawn chairs and blankets are welcome.
All guests are encouraged to arrive early for proper processing to gain base access, and free parking will be available outside the main gate on Fleming Road. Handicapped parking also will be available, and visitors with special needs will have access to a shuttle service to and from the event.
The evening will conclude with a spectacular fireworks display.
