ALBANY — Turner Job Corps Center student Angelica Drinks has been accepted into the fall 2023 cohort for the Associate of Science in Nursing Program at Albany Technical College.

Drinks, a resident of C.B. King Hall, received her trade certification in the Certified Nursing Assistant Program from TJC. Additionally, she passed her TEA’s exam and maintained a GPA of 4.0 during spring 2023 semester at Albany Tech.

Drinks is a 21-year-old Stone Mountain native. After earning her high school diploma at Stephenson High School, she enrolled in Turner Job Corps in August 2022. While serving two terms on the student government association, one as business and community liaison and the other as Chief of Justice, she remained determined to complete her work. Drinks completed her CNA trade certification in less than three months, becoming the first Turner Job Corps student to pursue the RN program in more than half a decade.

“Job Corps gave me a second chance,” Drinks said, adding that she plans to take full advantage of the opportunity she’s been given. She also noted that her 1-year-old son will always be her motivation, saying, “I want to give him the life that I did not have.”

TJC Center officials honored Drinks with a spotlight feature in the center’s newsletter.
