Albany cooling stations stay open as heat persists

ALBANY — As the ongoing wave of near-record high temperatures continues in southwest Georgia, Albany and Dougherty County officials announced plans to keep cooling sttaions open through Monday.
According to current weather reports, the heat index is projected to exceed 100 degrees over the weekend and on Monday.
Below is a list of locations available to anyone needing a break from the heat and the times they will be open. Water will be provided at each site.
♦ The Albany Transportation Center, 300 W. Oglethorpe Blvd.
Saturday and Monday: 7 a.m.-8 p.m.; Sunday: 11 a.m.-8 p.m.
♦ The Dougherty County Public Library Central Branch, 300 Pine Ave.
Saturday: 10 a.m.-5 p.m.; Sunday: 2-6 p.m.; Monday: 10 a.m.-8 p.m.
♦ The Northwest Library Branch, 2507 Dawson Road
Saturday: 10 a.m.-5 p.m.; Monday: 10 a.m.-8 p.m.
♦ The Southside Library Branch, 2114 Habersham Road
Saturday: 10 a.m.-2 p.m.; Monday: 10 a.m.-6 p.m.
♦ Tallulah Massey Library Branch, 2004 Stratford Drive
Saturday: 10 a.m.-5 p.m.; Monday: 10 a.m.-6 p.m.
♦ Westtown Library Branch, 2124 Waddell Avenue
Saturday: 10 a.m.-2 p.m.; Monday: 10 a.m.-6 p.m.
