Albany Police Department nets multiple arrests during searches of two residences

ALBANY — The Albany Police Department arrested six suspects during the search of two residences over the weekend as part of an investigation into recent assault cases.

Officers with the department’s Gang Unit and Robbery/Homicide Unit executed two search warrants, in the 1200 block of Julia Avenue and the 2000 block of West Waddell Avenue.

The searches turned up multiple firearms, police said.

The following were arrested and charged as a result of the investigation:

— Kayveon Lyles, 18, armed robbery, aggravated assault and gang participation;

— Quansay Mitchell, 19, armed robbery, aggravated assault and gang participation;

— Isaiah Reese, 22, two counts of aggravated assault, criminal damage to property and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime;

— Charleston Greene, 21, theft by receiving;

— Cedrick McKinney, 18, armed robbery, aggravated assault and gang participation;

— Kameelah Lang, probation warrant.

During the searches, officers found two assault rifles, three pistols, marijuana, and pills containing methamphetamine and fentanyl, police said. Police expect to file additional charges related to the illegal substances.
