Albany search resumes in Flint River for missing 23-year-old man

ALBANY – A man missing after he apparently was seen heading into the Flint River in downtown Albany on Monday has been identified.

The search for 23-year-old Cameron Jones resumed on Tuesday morning, Dougherty County Coroner Michael Fowler, who is related to the missing man, said.

That search is the third launched in area waterways in less than three weeks, and rescue workers are still searching the river for Albany employee Darrious Stephens, who disappeared while collecting water samples on March 12.

First responders were dispatched at about 1:30 p.m. on Monday to the location south of the Broad Avenue bridge to a report that someone had possibly gone into the river.

The Albany Fire Department, the Georgia Department of Natural Resources and SCUBA divers have been engaged in the search.

On Thursday, officials recovered the body of Gary Bernard Randle, 58, several hours after a boat from which he had been fishing overturned in a holding pond in the city.
