Albany Ward VI town hall meeting set for Thursday evening

ALBANY – City residents who live in the Henderson Community Center neighborhood and beyond can hear from city departments and Ward VI Commissioner Demetrius Young during a Thursday town hall meeting at the recreation facility.

The meeting will be held at the 701 Willard Ave. community center from 6:30-8 p.m.

“The purpose is to let the community know that we are here to hear their concerns,” Albany Recreation and Parks Department Recreation Supervisor Tee Taylor said. “We’re bringing the agencies there to them. They’ll have a chance to ask questions from different agencies that are going to be there.”

In addition to Taylor and Young, speakers scheduled include Recreation Director Steven Belk, Albany Police Chief Michael Persley, Albany/Dougherty Drug Unit Investigator Amanda Simpson and Dougherty County Police Department Chief Kenneth Johnson.

“The Dougherty County Police Department is a new one,” Taylor said of presenters invited to the town hall. “We’re asking everyone, not just people in the Henderson Gym area, but anyone who would like to come out so they can share their opinion.”
