DAWSON — JC’s Wingz & Concessions has established its presence in Terrell County, with frequent food truck visits to local events in the community. Now it has a permanent presence at a new location in downtown Dawson.

The restaurant at 288 N. Main St. not only brings residents another choice of eateries, it brings life back to the formerly vacant Carter’s Chicken building, said Shawn O’Connor-VZ, executive director of the Dawson Downtown Development Authority and director of Theater Dawson and the Main Street Theater and Cultural Arts Center.

A ribbon-cutting for JC’s Wingz, which also operates an Albany location, was held recently.

“They’ve been mobbed since they’ve opened,” O’Connor-VZ said. “I’m thankful that people are supportive.

“They bought a building that had closed, and we don’t want to lose a restaurant in that location. They brought a great new taste that’s affordable.”

Dawson also became the home of the first of four southwest Georgia Jack’s restaurant locations in October, and the company opened the first of two Albany locations in January.

A number of other relatively new businesses also have arrived in Dawson, including some that focus on arts and crafts.

“We’ve got so many things about to happen, so it’s really exciting,” O’Connor-VZ said. “We’re excited to have them (JC’s) here.”
