LEESBURG — Lee County Elementary students took their classroom experience mobile recently, as the Georgia AG Experience’s mobile classroom powered by the Georgia Foundation for Agriculture invited students to explore the opportunities in agriculture aboard the foundation’s state-of-the-art trailer.

The unique STEM-based educational program involves:

♦ One educational lesson prior to the experience;

♦ One hour in-person experience with self-guided study;

♦ One post-visit investigative research project.

All curriculum was developed by professors at the University of Georgia in the College of Agricultural & Environmental Sciences. The lesson plans meet Georgia state standards and incorporate STEM teaching practices. The classroom features stations like horticulture, cotton and poultry, just to name a few, and is complete with possible career options for each featured agricultural sector.

The goal of the experience is to increase students’ knowledge of and attitude toward Georgia agriculture. Ten Lee County elementary classes participated in the two-day vent.
