Jackson, Miss. man shot dead Saturday
From Staff Reports
ALBANY — Albany police were still withholding the names Sunday afternoon of persons arrested and another suspect in the shooting death of 33-year-old Johnny Young of Jackson, Miss., Saturday night.
Albany Police Department officers responded to a shooting around 11 a.m. Saturday in the 1300 block of West Oglethorpe Boulevard. Young was found lying on the ground with a gunshot wound to the chest. An APD release said robbery is the suspected motive, but investigators have not confirmed what may have led to the incident.
The release said the case remains “very active” with at least one additional arrest pending.
APD also noted what it called in a separate news release a “serious traffic collision Sunday morning at the 15oo block of Clark Avenue at the intersection of the Liberty Expressway.
One driver, who was transported by EMS to a local hospital, suffered injuries that responding APD officers labeled as serious. All lanes on Clark Avenue, including off-ramps from the Liberty Expressway, were blocked after the early-morning accident so that emergency personnel could respond. Drivers were advised to seek alternate routes.
The APD release said the time of the accident was 5:55 a.m. No additional details were given.
