Auburn-Montgomery tops Albany State 2-0

MONTGOMERY, Ala.— The Auburn-Montgomery Warhawks got two solo home runs Tuesday as the only scoring in the game and beat the visiting Albany State Golden Rams 2-0 at the AUM baseball complex in Montgomery.

Outfielder Matthew Zielonko belted a home run over the left field fence in the fourth inning to give the War Hawks a 1-0 lead. AUM”s Dalton Cobb snacked another one over the left field fence in the eighth inning to give home team the victory at 2-0.

Both teams picked up only five hits during the game. ASU’s Travis Ray, Jr. belted a double for the only extra-base hit of the game for the Rams. Chasen Rouhlac, Ernie Reyes, Kevin Bryant II, and Gavin Sloan all singled for the Rams but none of them scored.

AUM’s Micah Henderson took the win on the mound for the War Hawks. He gave up four hits and one walk during 6 2/3 innings. Harrison Morris came on in the seventh inning and pitched 2 1/3 innings. He gave up one hit and struck out four and recorded the save.

ASU’s Blaylor Galoce took the loss for the Golden Rams. He pitched four innings, giving up one run on two hits. Jordan Griffin, Tyler Berry, Cody Chapman, and Brock Rountree each pitched one inning of relief for the Rams.

From Montgomery, the Rams will travel to Mobile to take on Spring Hill College, The two teams will play a four-game series to end the regular season.

The Rams will then host the SIAC championships in Albany beginning May 2.
