LEESBURG — The Sowega Fall Ball league ended Saturday at Twin Oaks Elementary in Leesburg when Calhoun County came from behind to edge Lee County 54-53 in the league finale.

Lee County jumped out to a 9-0 lead early with intense full-court pressure and strong play from Braylon Chaney and Mathew Hardwick.

Lee County led the entire game until Zechariah Canidate broke a 52-52 tie on a slam dunk with 20 seconds remaining in the game. Lee County had opportunities to tie the game including when Josiah Parker was at the free-throw line with two ticks left on the clock. He made the first of the two free throws but missed the second and Calhoun County held on for the win.

Practice for the upcoming high school basketball season begins October 23rd.
