Deerfield-Windsor cross country teams run to Patriot Pride Invitational championships

The Deerfield-Windsor cross country teams swept the titles over the weekend at the Patriot Pride Invitational in Rochelle.
The boys team took first with 53 points, ahead of runner-up Valdosta’s 59, behind an individual championship from Jon Durham. Durham’s winning time was 16 minutes, 23.40 seconds.
Durham was backed up by teammates Garrison Slaughter (fifth, 18:16.40), Jackson Belusko (ninth, 19:10.10), Tyler Ricks (13th, 19:38.60) and Ethan Newsome (30th, 21:08.60).
The Deerfield-Windsor girls’ first-place score was 56 points, 11 clear of second-place Georgia Military. Bailey Irvin led the Knights with a third-place finish in 21:37.50, and teammate Sophie Singleton was close behind in fifth at 22:14.90.
The Deerfield-Windsor girls also put four other runners in the top 30 — Jane Strickland (18th, 25:14.50), Lily Kate Castle (22nd, 26:22.90), Molly Fuller (27th, 27:06.40) and Christianna Ford (28th, 27:29.50).
