ALBANY — The Dougherty County Xtreme Track and Field Club is gearing up for the upcoming season, with young athletes already training to compete in a variety of events. Coach Richard Brigham expects more than 50 participants to join this year’s program.

“Most of our athletes come from our football teams, but not all,” Brigham said. “I’ve got several new athletes now, and we’re always looking for more kids who want to develop and compete. It’s all about helping these athletes get faster and stronger for whatever they plan to pursue.”

The season kicks off with three indoor meets beginning in December in Birmingham, Ala. The club is still accepting new athletes-both girls and boys, with registration costing $225. The season extends through the summer, giving participants a chance to qualify for national events.

The team practices at Albany State University’s East Campus and welcomes athletes aged three and up.
