LEESBURG — The Lee County Trojans basketball team suffered a significant setback this week when senior All-State guard and 2024 Albany Herald Player of the Year Josiah Parker transferred to Combine Academy in Lincolnton, North Carolina.

Parker is the third player from Lee County’s 2023-24 team to transfer this summer.

After helping the Trojans dominate in the June Summer Basketball League, Parker joined AAU competition in Atlanta, where he picked up numerous college offers and a spot with the basketball organization Overtime Elite. He subsequently signed to play with Combine Prep next season.

“It was a surprise to us,” Lee County head coach Kirven Davis said. “It is a tough loss for our program. We invested a lot into Josiah’s development as a student-athlete. To lose any player is tough because we pour so much into them on a daily basis. But we are built with the ability to adapt.”

With Parker transferring to North Carolina, Braylon Chaney transferring to Dougherty and William Myles transferring to Etowah, the Trojans’ loaded backcourt will be counting on senior standouts Braden Moore and Kam Sanders.

“We wish Josiah well, and our doors will always be open to him,” Davis added.

Despite these losses, the Trojans will still have a formidable team that will compete for region and state titles. The team is hungry for another chance in the state playoffs after being eliminated in the first round last season, losing in overtime to the eventual state champions.
