LEESBURG — The Lee County Lady Trojan volleyball team lost their state playoff game to St. Pius Catholic School of Atlanta Tuesday in three straight sets.

After leading early in the first set, Lee County fell behind with St. Pius using strong, accurate serves and timely netblocks to take set one 25-22.

The Golden Lions built a big early lead midway through set two but strong serves from Callie Crosson and Savannah Singleton helped bring the Lady Trojans back before a spike from Kalyn Taczy pulled the Trojans to within one at 23-22.

The Golden Lions won the set 25-23 on a controversial call. Arguments that the ball was hit out of bounds by St. Pius went on deaf ears. The St. Pius team went on to win set three 25-15.

The loss ends the Lady Trojan season with a 17-25 record and second place region finish.
